You were not completely wrong: there have been changes to the WD
driver to adapt it to the features and shortcomings of Qt. So some of
the old stuff will fail and if you try those things you should get an
error message that explains what is broken. Hopefully it will also be
obvious how to fix the problem - if not, please ask.

(And if a question gets asked a lot, that might motivate us to improve
and/or better document that part of the system.)
