there is a setting in ~config/base.cfg for pdf reader.  The default may not
work since it depends on distro. You may set it a web browser if unclear
which pdf viewer to use.

All these things take digging into local "preferences" to sort out...

The good news is that it did what I wanted, even though I have to puzzle
out how to view PDFs in my remote terminal session...
