I do understand that "x|:y moves axes x to the tail end," and values of x
cannot exceed the rank of y.
But in one of my cases, 2 0 1&|: , tess was not curried with the cut
conjunction, so I could not see the relevance of your comment:

This was my example.

   tess     cp;._3"2&.(2 0 1&|:)i.7 10 3
|index error
|   tess     cp;._3"2&.(2 0 1&|:)i.7 10 3


This was your example and in yours the transpose is working on tess, which
seemed to be irrelevant to my example's tess, but maybe not to j's
interpreter?

   2 0 1&|: tess
|index error
|       2 0 1&|:tess

​So, I'm saying "yes, no".
