I was just happy to make it work at all! Had totally forgotten about the bit manipulations possible in J (remembered from the Lapack stuff) and was pretty surprised when it worked first shot. Pretty sure it can be done in one line (or with pointer magic to openSSL), but my j-judo not strong enough yet.
