[Jprogramming] jqt monothreading

One of many reasons I prefer to run J in emacs rather than in jqt is that jqt 
seems to be badly threaded: when J is occupied with a long calculation the 
console and edit screens are unusable, and I can't even see messages that 
wanted displayed to keep tabs on the progress of the calculation.  Is there no 
way to improve this situation?
