Regarding the name of dyadic perm, it seems to me that permutations of combinations of y are pretty much just permutations so I'm pretty happy with the current naming.
We could use Brian's "permutations of i.y items taken x at a time" rather than the current "permutations of size x from i.y", if that is clearer?
