   Thanks for the link to the plot option reference. I was looking inside
plot.ijs etc to get a complete list.

Your solution works, but it requires prior knowledge of the bounding box.
Obviously pd keeps track of this bounding box. I would have preferred a
solution that uses this bounding box and automatcally sets the aspect
accordingly. That's what the R software does when we use asp=1 in its plot
function.
