I use ARGV_j_

   ARGV_j_
+------------------------------------+
|C:\users\danhi\j902\bin\jconsole.exe|
+------------------------------------+

   ARGV_j_
┌───────────────────────────────┐
│C:\users\danhi\j902\bin\jqt.exe│
└───────────────────────────────┘

 J Http Server
   ARGV_j_
┌────────────────────────────────────┬──────────────────────────────┐
│C:\users\danhi\j902\bin\jconsole.exe│~addons/ide/jhs/config/jhs.cfg│
└────────────────────────────────────┴──────────────────────────────┘

I don't normally use JHS, so the following was enough to differnetiate betwen JQT and the Jconsole...

'jqt.exe' -: (] }.~ [: >: '\' i:~ ]) 0{:: ARGV_j_

J has 3 standard environments:

command line, jQT, JHS.

Is there a way that a script can discover which environment it is currently
running in?

Thanks,
