This gives me a domain error: require'ide/qt/gl2' coinsert'jgl2' wd'pc a closeok;cc b isidraw flush;pshow' gltext u:9017
If I replace u:9017 with '#' the above sequence of instructions works properly (does not throw an error, and displays the character). u:9017 (the APL domino character) displays fine in my qt session, so I imagine that it should be valid for gltext.
