Yes. IMO that's exactly what has happened. I'll stick my neck out and
predict that when you do update, viewmat will stop working. Or rather it
will work, but show a display of all black pixels.

No don't do that. You've already helped all you can by confirming the
problem appeared with 15.7 and not earlier, as I wondered.

Update your phone asap. Apple have just fixed some serious exposures.
Everybody now knows that 15.6.1 is vulnerable, and some will know how.
