The halting problem is undecidable :) So no, there're no training wheels that will prevent J from crashing.
If you send the script that causes the crash to the Forum (or to me personally), I'll help identify the problem. If you don't want to do that, then it'd be best if you ran it under the latest J6 beta. You don't need to switch to J6, just run the script under it and report back if it still crashes. If it doesn't, then the bug in the interpreter's been fixed (from J5 to J6), and you can focus your search by browsing the bugs reported in the Wiki: http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/System/Interpreter/Bugs and the Fora: http://www.jsoftware.com/cgi-bin/forumsearch.cgi?all=&exa=&one=crash+crashes&exc=&add=&sub=&fid=&tim=0&rng=0&dbgn=1&mbgn=1&ybgn=1998&dend=31&mend=12¥d=2006 . to help debug your script. -Dan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
