It also hits at a number of J design issues (for example, the reaons behind the contrast between /\ and /\.) Given that this is a somewhat common operation, and that J's facilities for treating it aren't immediately obvious, I would expect a certain amount of "reinventing the wheel", and I would expect that the resulting "wheels" look rather similar. (And, personally, I far more enjoy articles on technical issues debate about personal issues.)
