Not quite. Close, but not quite. This kind of ascii art is "poor man's graphic display". You significantly compromise the image.
There is nothing "poor man's" about my precious db. The dots are crisp and clear. They can be easily seen, 1s and 0s are prominently distingushed. Also the size of the dot is constant and independent of matrix size (which you'll have to trick viewmat to do) -- this may be useful in certain situations. It still gives you consize and visual representation of target object with a level of detail that is sufficient on one hand, and but does not overburden your eye focus muscle on the other hand.
