It's been a while since I used much Perl. I'm basing my statement on an exercise I did about 10 years ago when I parsed a text file using APL; it took me about 15 minutes to write the code and get it working properly. It then occurred to me that this was a problem more suited to Perl, so I coded up a solution that took me only 5 minutes to write. This was especially striking since my APL knowledge far surpassed my Perl expertise.
