That makes sense, but I'm not what to do. You didn't say the version
for fftw, but my 1.1.1 needed patching, as you just saw in my last
email, and I suspect the real (current) fftw probably works (and
probably is at a higher version number).

When I start PackMan, it asks me if I want to update the server catalog,
and I click "Yes". It gives the following report in the status pane:

,----
| Updating server catalog...
| Done.
| Installed addons are up to date, 5 addons are not yet installed.
| The core library is up to date.
`----

If I select Tools > Update catalog from server, I get the same results
again. If I select Tools > Rebuild all repository catalogs, it says

,----
| Updating server catalog...
| Rebuilding local file list...
| Done.
| Installed addons are up to date, 5 addons are not yet installed.
| The core library is up to date.
`----

I wish I could show you the list of installed packages and versions
easily, but they all show installed and latest versions as being the
same. Here's the manually typed list:

  core 6.1.10
  sqlite 1.0.2
  publish 1.0.0
  fftw 1.1.1
  lapack 1.1.0
  platimg 1.0.2
  wav 1.0.6
  excel 1.0.2
  tara 1.1.0

Given that my PackMan is obviously not working right, I won't spend the
time trying to patch LAPACK. Any tips on what I can examine to help you
help me? I don't see an "About" command in PackMan, but, as I said the
end of last week, it's a quite recent installation. I haven't really
done anything to my J installation except put some material in the user
directory and made the changes to fftw I documented in my last email.

Thanks,

Bill
