addons publish already assume unicode (including your name Seppälä) for working.
But its output to pdf use winansiencoding (not unicode). There should be some
verbs which translate unicode to winansiencoding during writing to pdf. Your
publish should already serve as an example of how to work with unicode.

I don't know what ucp is or what it does, but there was lots of dicussion of this in previous Forum threads. Search for ucp .
ucp stands for unicode code point. There is also a utility ucpcount:
ucpcount 'Anssi Seppälä'
