I don't recall what size I ran into troubles with, but
my fuzzy memory is that it was a few megabytes (less
than 10, maybe less than 5). I agree with you that more
control about refusing the upload would be good and that
my method gives that up - but I did include it in the pfdat
script where a limit of 20e6 bytes is imposed. A common
size that people I was working with needed was 10 - 20
megabytes, they had been trying to email such things with
problems that uploading solved.
I'm all ears for a better, more standard, scheme for these
things.

It seems that it could be safely assumed that upload
sizes should fit in memory, i.e. a few megabytes,
anything larger not feasible for HTTP upload at all.
The stdin implementation for Windows is done in J,
so I hope it's just a matter of correctly working
the loop and result codes.

were the last line is the call to a j #! script "pfdat" which
did the other things I described in my previous message. This
was a very good work around for the stdin buffering issues.
