Thank you, Raul, for supplying a streamlined definition of this adverb (and to Henry, for making it even smoother.) The use of the empty array to bind cap as a gerund was very enlightening. The use of m, rather than x, was particularly important to see. My understanding of when to use fix is still sketchy and flawed. The fact that f. can be appended to the pipe adverb is so clear and simple that I agree that it is better to omit from within the definition of pipe. I'd retained the rank-zero specification for the use of mobius when I drew it out of the Essay context, in which it was applied to a table. I'm still not adept at envisioning the rank requirements as such things change, so thanks for pointing out that it was unnecessary. I do look forward to finding, and perhaps constructing, a typeface in which @ is subdued. Given the limited hours available, I'm going to remain focused on studying J rather than font-design software. In the long run, a J-oriented typeface seems worthwhile. (In keeping with APL history, the asterix should approximate the standard multiplication (St. Andrew's) cross, and the percent-sign should approximate the standard division sign.) After hacking away as I did to produce my ungainly version, the improved definition rather takes my breath away. Thanks, sincerely. pipe=:1 :'(([:`'''' , ,)/ m)`:6'
