Doesn't the standard dotted line give you a line with uniform point density? But this apparently is not what you want. So are your raw data points more significant than the curve they lie on? If so, surely you wouldn't *want* uniform point density? But you might need to thin them out in a proportional manner i.e. knock out every nth point, or keep every nth point.
