Actually, you hit on the first problem I encountered.  I figured that 1:
might be a valid function to plot, but that didn't seem to do much
good.  I tried some other variants, but the best I got was your blank
window. 

Perhaps your suggestion would help, for sometimes I might want just the
line, and sometimes I want the line and the other graphs, too.
