Following John's lead, you could apply a self-juxtaposing simple transform-- scale, shift, rotate--over subsets of the sequence. If they match, you got self-similarity.
The trasform params are good to be bound with track controls near plot. And you got yourself an interactive self-similarity probe. Now whether you can tell this from the plot is another question. Yes, the question is truly "how could I tell that from the plot?". Perhaps if you give me a hint, I could say more. In response to Raul's reply on Saturday, I drafted a more detailed description of my situation. It's at the office. I'll review it and post it tomorrow. -Dan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
