for commenting on getting J going on your eeePC.
Unfortunately, it's some months since I tried to get it
going by following the instructions for installation
under Linux and all I remember is that nothing much
seemed to happen, except to my temper. My problem is
that after I retired to teach at a university I had
very good technical officers who looked after that
kind of thing for me. Now that I'm completely retired
and having to look after such matters for myself (now
on the mainland of Australia) I realise that was
a mistake.
I haven't time to try again just now, but if you don't
mind I'll keep your email addresses and ask for help
directly (outside this forum) when I find time to try
again.
