I use J for calculations in algebraic topology.  I calculate the
homology of simplicial complexes, in particular, the Rips complex.  I
also use J to calculate the algebraic connectivity of graphs.  I use
pure J for the most part, with LAPACK for SVD and eigenvalue
computations.
