>From the Department of Really Annoying Quibbles...

APWJ Edn 2 is supposed to have an appendix with solutions to all
problems set for the reader.

In my recent appeal for solutions I assumed that
http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/Doc/Articles/Play124 (Chapter 10:
Year's Digits for 1993) only needed a better solution to number 91
(see end of article). Alas, I was in too much of a hurry. Strictly
speaking I have to offer a solution to all i.101 numbers.

The wiki offers solutions for the years: 2005-2010 (but only for
i.100). See: http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/Puzzles/POY%202010 (just
change the last 2 digits for previous years). I've thought of offering
one of these instead, but that really will not do, in the context of
the article. For the J tyro, this is a splendid exercise, far more
important than its apparent triviality suggests.

So I have created a page:
http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/Puzzles/POY%201996 -- as a modified
copy of the one for 2010. Could list members help fill it out, please?

NB. The restrictions (taken from 2010) are slightly tighter than
Gene's original ones. Viz: no letters in numeric constants (e.g. 20r10
for 2 is prohibited). This would rule out Ewart's solution (sorry,
Ewart).

We really, really are on the last lap with APWJ Edn 2, and I want it
out in time for Christmas.

Ian Clark
Subeditor, APWJ Edn 2.
