Yep, rule will only substitution at the leftmost possible location.  Of course, 
after every restart, the rule has a chance to be
applied again (e.g. 'A->B' markov 'AAA' produces 'BBB' after 3 passes 
[applications of the rule]).

Yes, since there are 3 rules but at most one substitution can take place per 
rule application, this evaluation takes 8 steps to
complete.
