Trying to make sense of JHelp wd ... I have a char vec in var: TEXT. I wish to copy it to the clipboard. I turn to JHelp. It points me to the "wd" page and I can code:
wd 'clipcopy ',TEXT from the info on the page -- but it doesn't work. However (*inspiration!*) ... wd 'clipcopy *',TEXT That works. (*Satisfied feeling*). On the debit side, an anticipated one-minute coding task has just taken half-an-hour. AFAICS the need (...occasionally?!) for a leading star is nowhere mentioned on the JHelp page. Should it be? How? When is a star needed and when not? ............Now I've been in the development business long enough to hazard a guess at the answer. But, as a novice, must I guess? ... *should* I be guessing? Is the only way to spare me guessing to expand the "wd" page with more material, making it harder else longer to read? I've posted this query because (a) it's just arisen for me, and (b) the hot topic is fitness-for-purpose of the reference material.
