It is important to get people interested.

People can become interested/impressed in seeing nice graphics created with
very few statements.

Then the question is what happens after.

They may be impressed at how clever you are or are they interested in trying
for themselves.

Most of the time people seem to say wow that it impressive but then they
decide it is too complex for them.

Years of experience seems that most people do want to get some simple stuff
they can start with en take it slowly into more complex issues.

Tacit expressions are very difficult to understand or debug even for
seasoned J programmers let alone people new to J.

Getting the message across to people that they can start as easily with J as
a calculator/excel or stuff like that and later do all kinds of fancy stuff
easily is the hardest thing to do.
