vi (nvi) starts faster than vim and uses less memory. There are occasions that I need vim but that usually means a non-compatible is needed.
Both vim and nvi are good, of course. The reason I prefer vi is that it has far lesssss features to learn, and can operate by fingers muscle memory and reflex actions without imposing a heavy load on my aging brain. ;-) Чтв, 10 Мар 2011, Dan T.
