If you wanted step 2 for an end in itself, you might do something like this:
   N=: <.@o. 10^50x
   ,' ',.":N
 3 1 4 1 5 9 2 6 5 3 5 8 9 7 9 3 2 3 8 4 6 2 6 4 3 3 8 3 2 7 9 5 0 2 8
8 4 1 9 7 1 6 9 3 9 9 3 7 5 1 0

If the first space was undesirable, you could then drop it...
   }.,' ',.":N

But, as other people have demonstrated, it can be wise to omit
intermediate goals that you do not need.
