Hi Ric, I recently read an old copy of Vector (Vol.16 No.2) and came across the article "A Very Simple Structure Compiler for J" by Martin Neitzel.
It may be the wheel you are looking for, though you may need put some air in it, the J code is circa 1999. http://juggle.gaertner.de/bnp/c2j.html Ken -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Ric Sherlock Sent: Tuesday, May 31, 2011 5:52 PM To: Programming forum Subject: [Jprogramming] Reading C structs I need to interact with some binary files that are basically stored C structures. Before I attempt to reinvent the wheel, I was wondering if anybody has any tools/utilities they are willing to share for reading such files an converting them to J arrays? I have the declared type structure of the files - for example: struct INDIV { int id; int sireid; int damid; unsigned short breed; unsigned short yob; short inbreed; float brd[4]; }; Alternatively I'm also open to advice on how best to approach the task.
