Interesting...

Personally, I much prefer the unix approach to the windowed approach
and use cygwin extensively when I use windows.  I do not have a mac.

This strikes me as conflicting with the way you have characterized
problem solving approaches, here.

Then again, I keep thinking that this discussion belongs in chat...
