Well, things seem to have gotten more complicated than I had at first thought.
I have been dealing with J rather casually, setting up my own directory
structure. I searched through all the subdirectories in J602, but could not
find pacman. The addons directory was, I think one that I just created myself
and started loading things into it. So, after the messages that all you guys
sent me, I decided that the whole thing was wrong. I deleted the whole thing
and downloaded J602a and started from scratch. Fortunately, I didn't have much
to lose. Most of what I've done with J I did on a Pocket PC, which is why I
turned to J in the first place, there being very few programming languages
available on the Pocket Pc (formerly, I was a Palm user). And, unfortunately, I
can't use the Pocket PC with FVJ because the memory runs out.
OK. First of all, there is no addons directory in J602 as downloaded. Thus,
there is no pacman. What am I doing wrong? My problem is probably that I don't
understand the whole setup, and should begin reading some of the manuals such
as the J Primer and J User. The only thing that I paid any attention to (other
than FVJ) is easyj.
I would like to thank all of you for your advice and interest in my problem.
Charles
