As you see from the documentation:

f=: 3 : 0
a=: 2+b=. y ^ 2
a+a*b
:
x*x+y
)

3 can be for both x and y and what is after : is the dyadic case.

It is quite nice to include the default x and call f again dyadically
in the part before :

As far as I can remember there used to be 14 to create dyadic tacit
but it was dropped later.
