Embarrassingly, probably just the result of me having forgotten
stripVerticalComponent() existed when demoteTo2D() was needed. I've just
issued https://github.com/OSGeo/PROJ/pull/4127
"CRS::stripVerticalComponent(): Redirect it to demoteTo2D(std::string(),
