After chatting with Daan Strebe, I have implemented a "meta" projection in
PROJ called "interrupted". It just take a parameter for the base projection
and another for the definition of the gores. It is working for "tmerc",
"sinu", "cass" and "poly". (and it would be easy to add more).

Does anybody find it useful? I remember people asking how to make gores
with QGIS.
