Hi gang: So after much joking and jesting about <http://xkcd.com/378/> we've had these past days, I have prepared last night a small screencast video demonstrating some of the Emacs editing craft.
Basically the video shows some of the Emacs Tips that I listed on our wiki <https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/CDS/EmacsTips>, most notably: * code snippets * keyboard macros * python interpreter * auto-completion * browsing The screencast lasts about 3 minutes and you can view it like this: $ mplayer http://cdsware.cern.ch/tmp/emacs-python-hacking.ogv Now, I do sound weird (shall we blame the low-fi recording equipment?) and may sound zombish (late night hour? lack of vitamins?). So be it; I just hope I have not done too much of a disservice to our fine editor. :) (Well, I should probably record a more reasonable hacking example, show other goodies such as pylint and magit and stuff; maybe one day later.) Please tell me what you think and please share your own productivity screencasts and tips, either for Emacs or your own favorite editor. Best regards -- Tibor Simko ** CERN Document Server ** <http://cds.cern.ch/>
