For SLC5 machines in the Computer Center, we use Quattor.org to manage node configuration and packages. I'm afraid the recipes would not be directly applicable to you, unless you run Quattor. For SLC5 machines for personal development, using vanilla `yum' instead of Quattor, this is more directly applicable to your vanilla RHEL5 situation.
