#604: bibknowledge needs updates to better support autocomplete

Using jquery autocomplete with dynamic KB's still doesn't work, even with
#111 merged. To keep moving forward on author special mode (#351) I've
made some changes to bibknowledge that preserve its traditional
functionality while adding new hotness. Today I extracted those changes,
added unit tests, did extensive manual and jquery-integration testing on
atlantis and inspire, and kwalitee checked it. I needed to do this to
clean up my ASM branch, but figured while I was at it, I might as well
make it useful to anyone else who wants to implement jquery autocomplete
against a dynamic KB.
I'd like to see this get reviewed and committed as soon as possible.
