For consistency reasons, I'd prefer if the span query treatment for
date searches is not done in `search_unit()` but is moved to
`search_unit_in_bibrec()`. This would fully correspond to how span
queries are treated in other search unit functions like
`search_unit_in_bibwords()`, `search_unit_in_idxphrases()` and
friends. The `search_unit()` function would then remain to be a light
dispatcher function only.
