Iff the call is invoked from another python program, and there are 5
external search engines involved and one of them times out, will this
ipython session call finish immediately or will it wait until all the
external search engines finish?
perform_request_search() function is advertised as API [i counted *156*
invocations across invenio code, no idea how many involve the xternal
search]
