I do agree with you that a ticket number in the branch name is useful, I refer to it all the time as it makes it easier to keep track of what my branches are. However I also agree with Tibor that a description of the branch in the name is nice as it allows people not familiar with Trac to quickly understand what's the content of the branch. Therefore my newest branch is called '252-bibdocfile-http-headers' and brings together the best of both worlds: a ticket number and a description.
