Follow-up Comment #2, task #14115 (project cdsware):

In other words, the INSTALL file lists one method which works only on Debian
based systems, and one method which works on all systems, including Debian.
Why not just remove the special case? Almost everything in the INSTALL file
could be done differently on other OSes (rpm/yum instead of apt-get, vim/nano
instead of emacs, apache instead of www-data, apache2ctl instead of
/etc/init.d/apache2), but we don't list those alternatives.

The section outlines two methods for including invenio-apache-vhost*.conf in
Apache, one creating symlinks and the other using the Include directive in
httpd.conf. The first is cleaner, but is not supported by SLC5 (and others),
so we could avoid any confusion and make sure the install instructions work
by removing the first one until it's better supported.

The wording in the Apache config section says clearly: ``If you
are using Debian then...'' and ``If you are using another
operating system then...''. I think the two cases are well
differentiated, and neither needs to be removed. (Note that
Debian GNU/Linux is used throughout the INSTALL file as an
example OS.)
