The citation indexer's ref_analyzer() seems to be using very close
variable names in various places:
recid_list
rec_ids
rec_id
recid
recnumbers
recnumber
(There is also rec_id[0], so rec_id seems to be sometimes a list...)
This is error-prone and should be refactored.
E.g. `recnumber' seems to be actually a `report number', hence better
`repno'.
E.g. we traditionally use `recID' to mean one record ID, or `recIDs'
to mean list of record IDs.
