Dear Ferran,
this normalization was also during uppercase to lowercase conversion, for
every extensions, too. The aim was to abstract from the concept of extension
a bit towards the concept of format (to me a cds.jpeg have the same "format"
of cds.JPG).
Indeed the bibdocfile library should be a low level slave library, hence the
normalization has been removed, and left, to high level websubmit +
bibupload/FFT tools.
