We talked with Daniel about the conglomerate packages a while back & he had some ideas, but we haven't restarted the discussion now that a kernel is available. I also want to look for any hw support backports 2.6.24 that would be simple/good - bnx2 is of interest to me, since most of the machines I deal with use it. waldi has a fw splitout patch based on the 2.6.24 driver/fw, and I want to investigate either adding 2.6.24 support to it, or backporting the 2.6.25 driver and using his existing split. Of course, I expect the 2.6.24 kernel to be as supportive of new hardware support after release as 2.6.18 was, so new hardware could be added later. And the next d-i beta is needed to make it installable, but I believe Frans's udeb for etch support has the missing pieces now. Oh - and we certainly want testers for the kernel. Maybe a post on planet here would help. > Anything I can do to help? We need to start drafting a release note of sorts for users that can go out with (or as part of) the point release announcement. I can start a draft, but would certainly want help there. Beyond that, there's looking for/plugging holes, and of course testing. > After writing this I checked the wikipage to get the URL to suggest to draft > the announcement there and then noticed I wasnt subscribed to it, doh > (&fixed). Other than that, I don't know of any blockers, but if they appear they should appear in the TODO here: http://release.debian.org/proposed-updates/stable.html > regards, > Holger, installing the kernel atm... great! -- dann frazier -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
