For RHEL5, you basically only have to follow the section one, entitled `Invenio on vanilla SLC5', of the wiki page <http://invenio-software.org/wiki/Installation/InvenioOnSLC5>. This should be rather quick, say one hour if you try it for the first time. (If you would like to use our swrep.cern.ch RPMs, as indicated in the recipe, I can make them available to the outside of CERN. Otherwise the appendix of the same wiki page contains recipes how to built RPMs yourself; this will naturally make the installation process longer.) > How much time is spent monthly to maintain the environment, including > the recompiling of packages as new patches are released? If you use RHEL5 vanilla system, the yum-installable packages are taken care of by the upstream distro maintainers, so most of the security updates comes from the upstream. You have to take care of locally produced packages, which means only the following ones: MySQL-python (mandatory), pdftk (optional), rdflib (optional), pyRXP (optional), gnuplot-py (optional). In practice this means to watch mainly for MySQL-python security updates. If you plan to use RHEL6 instead of RHEL5, then MySQL-python is yum-installable, so is taken care of by the distribution maintainers as well, so the situation there is even easier.
