Hi!

I'm just trying a simple search in Invenio and wonder how to
understand the results.

Say I have two records that contain the following Marc:

--------------------[Rec 1 ]--------------------
   2100# $$2ZDB$$aProg. Theor. Phys. (Kyoto)
   2100# $$2ZDB$$aProg. Theor. Phys. (Japan)
   2100# $$2ZDB$$aProg. Theor. Phys.
   2100# $$2FZJ$$aProg Theor Phys Supp
245__ $$aProgress of theoretical physics$$cpubl. for the Yukawa
Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Physical Society of
Japan$$hElektronische Ressource
2462_ $$aProgress of Theoretical Physics Supplement
   2463_ $$aPROG THEOR PHYS
--------------------[Rec 1 ]--------------------

and

--------------------[Rec 2 ]--------------------
2100# $$2ZDB$$aProg. Theor. Phys. (Kyoto), Suppl.
2100# $$2ZDB$$aProg. Theor. Phys. Suppl. (Japan)
   2100# $$2ZDB$$aSuppl. Prog. Theor. Phys.
   245__ $$aProgress of theoretical physics / Supplement
   24639 $$aProgress of theoretical physics / Supplement
   2463_ $$aProgress of theoretical physics$$cYukawa Institute for
Theoretical Physics$$hElektronische Ressource
   2462_ $$aProgress of Theoretical Physics / Supplement (-1984)
   2463_ $$aPROG THEOR PHYS SUPP
2463_ $$aPROGRESS OF THEORETICAL PHYSICS SUPPLEMENT
--------------------[Rec 2 ]--------------------

Now I issue a simple search in this collection:

Prog. Theo. Phys. Suppl. [Any field]

This gives me:

No exact match found for Prog., using Prog instead...
No exact match found for Theo., using Theo instead...
No exact match found for Phys., using Phys instead...
No exact match found for Suppl., using Suppl instead...
Boolean query returned no hits. Please combine your search terms
differently.
    112 Prog
    6 Theo
    466 Phys
    173 Suppl

That is: no result. Now if, however, I search for

Prog. Theor. Phys. Suppl. [Any field]

(note the additional r in Theo_r_) I get the two journals I
outlined the Marc above. (Similarly, I could use Theo*.)

It seems that Invenio is searching the exact terms (phrases)
here.

Is this intended?

Given the Google-slit search here: wouldn't it probably be
more to the users expectations if "Prog Theo Phys Suppl"
still doesn't yield results to do a sub string search i.e.
some automatic appended * probably even further doing real
sub string search if still no results show up?

I might miss some implications, as I come across this form
journal shorthand searches and this is always a bit a mess
as not all communities use the same abbreviations. (In the
sample above, the canonical abbreviation is even a bit strange,
given this "r", which is not intuitive, but ISO is ISO...)

(The system in question uses git commit 562-30d6b.)
