this is "almost" possible. Basically the technique is to have the record to 
belong to at least one restricted collection. In this case, either the user is 
authorized to access the given restricted collection, or he must "own" the 
record (that is, his email address is listed in the MARC field 8560_f).

The only issue with the above technique is that if the record belongs 
explicitly to a public collection, its HTML brief representation will be 
visible in search results performed on that collection. But as soon as the 
user tries to access either the HTML detail representation of the record or 
one any fulltext the authorization check will be enforced.

We plan indeed to try to explicitly implement in the near future the support 
for the MARC field 506:
