You could also try setting your bibsched to *manual* (press 'm'), wait 
a few seconds for all running processes to complete, and then verify 
it's status with
sudo -u www-data /opt/invenio/bin/bibsched status
to see whether a process is still in 'running' state. Normally they 
should only be processes in 'waiting' and not 'running' state.
This should be enough to let the script proceed with the upgrade-check.
