Could you give any kind of an update regarding the release of at least a first beta of Invenio/next?

It is not yet stable, and moreover Invenio/next is undergoing radical
source code organisation changes via Invenio/pu. So it is kind of
bleeding edge. (The Invenio/pu is not yet committed in the official
source code repository yet.) We plan to have a more stable version of
Invenio/next out by February.

If you are giving our demo site a try, please don't hesitate to report
back the bugs you may encounter and let us know what does or does not
work for you.
Some modules such as search should be working relatively well, although
we know of a few shortcomings. Other modules such as baskets or alerts
have not been ported yet...
